Our support group is back from summer break and meeting again the 2nd Monday of each month at the Green Acres. There’s lots of PD related events happening all over our area.  Here’s a list we provided at the last support group meeting.

Dear Friends,

If you attended this month’s meeting, you experienced just a little of what yoga can do for your health, flexibility, and stress. I personally encourage you to make an effort to try the “Adaptive Yoga” class at Sun & Moon. The first class is free. There is both a night class and a day class. I hope that you will do yourself this favor and give it a chance.

Support Group meeting follow-up

We had our regular meeting on Monday night.  Thanks to all who attended.  Many thanks to Noralea and Annette from Sun and Moon Yoga in Fairfax.  They shared 30 minutes of yoga with us…what a great way to start off the meeting!  Just a reminder that the new Adaptive Yoga classes are being offered Thursday night and Friday mornings. And the first class is FREE!  So, go try one today…caregivers are welcome too!  And they don’t have to anything…just enjoy the class.

Most folks agreed – any exercise is good exercise!

Support Group meeting reminder – 4/12/10 7pm

Hello Everyone – We welcome all to attend our next meeting on Monday, April 12th at 7-9pm in ROOM 110. Water will be provided. Please feel free to bring snacks to share with the group.

For this meeting, the first 15-20 minutes we will have Annette Hyde from Sun and Moon Yoga Studio stopping by to talk about the NEW Adaptive Yoga classes being offered by the studio. The rest of the meeting will be open discussion. If you haven’t been to a meeting in a while, please come and reconnect with friends. If you are new to our group, please come and meet fellow support group members. Please feel free to come after 7pm if you need. You do not need to RSVP to attend the meeting.

Parking & Access to the Center: If you have in the past used University Drive or School St. to access Green Acres, YOU MUST USE THE NEW DIRECTIONS below! The City of Fairfax has closed University Drive at Forest Drive. You will have to use Sideburn Road to access the Community Center. There is NO access to University Drive from GMU’s Patriot Circle. See the NEW directions below. We now recommend everyone parks in the paved lot or in the handicap parking spaces in front of the Green Acres Community Center. If you do park in the gravel lot, the door will not be unlocked or manned. You will have to walk around to the front doors of the center.

Turn right on Sideburn Rd.
Sideburn Road ends at community center.

From Route 123 and Braddock Rd:
Go north on Route 123
Turn right on Armstrong Street,
Turn right on Sideburn Rd.
Sideburn Road ends at school.

For best access, park in the paved lot or handicap spaces in front of the Center. You can also park along the street and in the gravel lot at the end of the building; but be prepared to walk to the front of the building.

Welcome to our blog!

It became clear recently that we needed to have an online place to post information, links, news, etc. that we share at our support group meetings and between meetings.  So, to fulfill this need, Angela created this blog.  This may just be an intermediate step to a full website, but we will give it a try.
